Halloween = Fun + Low-key. Wonderful evening, stellar_dust. Thank you for inviting us! Here's the costumes Kevin and I wore. BIG thanks to melannen who sewed the whole damn thing (minus sash. thanks, Kevin!) the day before Halloween out of the goodness of her own heart.

My fiancé, a group of friends and I traveled to D.C. today to see the cherry blossoms via the subway. They're only just beginning to open, the day was overcast, and the wind still had teeth. It was wonderful! The flowers were fresh, the sky white and bright, and the crowds too scared to come out.

We had a picnic beneath the flowers. I don't know how many of you will be able to have a spring-flower picnic this year, so please, let me share mine.

Weren't they lovely? They were exactly what the doctor ordered.

So many big things have changed for me within the past month. I'm a bit too overwhelmed to write them all down properly.

I've got a new job, potentially a new place to live, a graduation approaching, a professor being a dick, warning lights blinking on my car's dashboard, and no dress shoes. Most of these things will be resolved over the course of the next 7 days.

I may explode.

Thank you, Becky & Kevin for dragging me out of my self-fortified stress-pit to see the flowers. I really needed today.

It's been a rough few weeks. Not in the sense that some thing's horribly wrong, just that I keep bumping from one stress-inducing-situation to another. It's nothing that I can't handle or that requires people to break out the violins or anything.

But, having said that...

To treat myself, I didn't do ANYTHING useful tonight. It won't help me tomorrow when I look at my pile of things still to be accomplished. In fact, I might kick myself. But I have a scanner, and I haven't drawn something of my own, on my own prompting, for myself in... a big, long while. It felt very nice to do so.

I had been having a conversation about Mona Lisa with a friend in the TMNT fandom. We both remarked that for a lizard girl, she's got nice tits. And some lovely hair. Research followed (of the 'prod wikipedia' variety). She's not even supposed to be a specific KIND of lizard. There's leanings towards "Salamander," but those are gooey and stumpy. So I opted for Iguana instead.

If i can justify the time and effort, perhaps I will ink and color her. Really? I think she's gonna stay like this. There's too much else that needs attention. That both excites and saddens me.

EDIT: Plant is Aucuba Japonica and according to at least one website, it has some mild medicinal properties. It can be made into a poultice for burns, swelling, and chillblains. It can also be cooked and eaten. Nothing about eating it raw. Sally? Does your mother need a plant? end EDIT

There will be another post fairly soon detailing all the stuff i've suddenly realized MUST HAPPEN before i go back to school on Jan 17th. But that's gonna be a list post. One of those 'Oh-My-Eyes-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!' lists of everything and anything i can possibly think to stress about. Mostly b/c i haven't done that recently enough and i'm kinda feeling relaxed. And we can't have that. ;)
