I
HAVE
A
SHELF!

woo! Boss finally bought me shelves! I can organize the back room! I can put good books where i can find them and bad books out in the the junk bins. I can get items that customers order and keep track of inventory! La La La! I've been after a SHELFING UNIT since the fire marshal made us remove ours in late JULY. HUZZAH! I can CLEAN!

*Cartwheels*

OH.

And while moving things to put the shelving unit in? I found two copies of "Archie Meets The Punisher" and a copy of its differently titled double, "The Punisher Meets Archie." Frank Castle shoots the fuck out of Riverdale High's 1950's Sock Hop. And Veronica is nearly RAPED/kissed.

Excuse me, gotta go clean up after the scavengers customers in our fifty cent bins.

Oh yes. That's me. QUEEN OF GETTIN" SHIT DONE! booya!

Today was a long-ass sunday at the store. Which is a major contradiction in terms b/c sunday's our shortest day. We had maybe 9 customers (typical). What was ATYPICAL were the PILES OF ACCUMULATED DROSS... no really, we were doing so well for a while there. Then the semester just went FOOSH! and the workload went WOOSH! and the health went SROOOSH! and boom. the store looked like jabba the hutt's asshole.

I'm terribly pleased b/c after 5 hours of straightening, neatening, sortening, and cleanening... i FOUND THE PATH TO THE BACK DOOR! (not jabba's back door, i figure there's prolly some kind of statute about mentioning a hutt's asshole more than once in any given lj post.) Kevin will see when he gets into work tomorrow. The store has been REstored! And on the shortest day of the work week.

I called my cousin, he's gonna call back tomorrow and lemme know when and where to pick up the parts required for repairing the liberal mobile. There's talk of 'getting most of it done' on this next Sunday. Cousin seems to think that the $600 total raised will cover most all of the repairs (minus windshield. Sorry, Kevin... that's gonna be around $200. but i think you can do that, right?)

I've arranged to take Monday off entirely, so study can continue... this Tuesday I've got my finals for both accounting and business Statistics. Since i can have a cheat sheet for accounting, i'll be finishing the study for THAT up tonight and wiping out said 'cheat sheet.' I get to spend monday doing the remaining laundry and vacuuming.... AND doing my least fave subject: STATS. pbbbt.

all in all, things are looking good. I'm afraid i've lost track of all the things i've promised to do once 'the semester was over' ...but as soon as it IS, i'm sure i'll re-discover them double-quick. This both excites and distresses me.

I'm tempted to hit my 'to do' list... but i will be strong. I know what i must do tonight, and it's name is "ACCOUNTING." (i'll allow myself a congratulatory lj post about the store, b/c believe you me, it was NASTY.)

toodles!

(and yes, dee, we DO need some kind of schedule.)

I'm using the "TO DO" list feature, b/c frankly, the only place i can ALWAYS get to is ONLINE. So, no matter where i am or what i'm doing, I can pop onto good ol' LJ and see just what's fixing to fall on my head.

This is my List.

a couple things:

1. Please note that there's no mention of my birthday celebrations or plans. No mention of when i'm supposed to ink strips. No talk of when I'm slated to sleep. And just no space in there for LIVING. So, if i don't see too much of you in the next little bit, it's not that i don't love you. Bear with me til the end of the spring semester. I'm NOT taking classes this summer. I'd been up in the air about it, but this list seals it. no class. fuck that.

2. If you see anything i'm MISSING from that list... things i've promised you... things i've mentioned... things that SHOULD be there but arent... please pipe up. I'm especially interested in nailing down some kind of inking schedule. It's not in there b/c i don't know where the hell to put it.

and a side note on #1. ...i did want to go roller skating for my birthday. but i'm fine with putting it off til june. you see... there's so much STUFF to do! *runs off in twelve different directions, but mostly towards all that business stats homework!*

so i've been kicking this laptop whenever i get a chance, and i've gotten it down to where it SHOULD be a slick, fast, eel-like machine... and still it lags. And i've banged my head on walls, trying to come up with SOMETHING else to do to it, to help it quit limping like a paraplegic in a relay race.

I didn't DEFRAG IT!

oh god, if i didn't, i doubt anyone else has--prolly since 2003, when this thing was new.

dur. (elapsed time, 20 minutes: progress:3%. ACK!)

i'll feel better when this thing just RUNS.

...speaking of repairs. I HAVE to get my break pads replaced. I bought the pads more than 3weeks ago, and just haven't been able to coordinate with my cousin/mechanic to get them PUT ON.

To Do Today:

+ Note special order #s on special order list.

+ Transfer ~30 post-it notes worth of info into appropriate binders.

+ Sticker ~40 comics/freebies to give away at library seminar this evening.

+ Co-teach drawing seminar at local library.

+ Read 7 6 Chapters' worth of Entrepreneurial Text. (or as much as possible)

+ Complete 7 6 Chapters' worth of Entrepreneurial Text Exercises. (or as much as possible)

+ Do NOT get distracted by highly tempting Store Database project until Homework is complete.
(with the laptop formatting, i CAN'T work on the highly tempting Store Database project.)

+ Do NOT ignore Customers.
(putting up a sign that we're closing an hour early...to do good works with children at the public library. *turns on halo*)

+ Tend Cat boxes.

+ Get a LONG shower.

+ Get some good sleep.

+ Pack a Lunch for tomorrow.

+ Love on Kevin. (FAVORITE TASK OF THE DAY! :D )

::EDIT:: litter boxes and lunch packing will have to wait til tomorrow morning before class.

Drats. I was hoping that the list would make me feel more focused and awake. No dice. Guess I'll actually have to try DOING things on the list. ;)

I've seen the TMNT movie 3 times now. It appears I'll be seeing it again tonight. I'm NOT complaining. So many others have done exhaustive, fan-spangled reviews of the film. I'm inclined to just say, "I really liked it. My inner fan is sated. But April should not be able to take Karai in a straight fight. And Don should have had more/better lines. That is all. Now pardon me, while i go watch it AGAIN! AGAIN! AGAIN!"

That's pretty much as much as I wanna say about it.

The "ONOZ" icon is for my newest acquisition.

It's not even MINE. It's for the store. But i'm such a proprietary person... i get quite belligerent about things that i perceive myself to be the caretaker of. Especially when i know in my heart of hearts that the object/person/place is not mine and i DO have to share it/them with others who probably will NOT take care of it as well OR in the EXACT SAME WAY as i do. Talk about a self-discovered hang up. I'm sure folks who know me have known that about me for years. But this is my first time 'saying it outloud' so to speak...

having said all that...
I'm pissy that this new acquisition: a DELL LATITUDE LAPTOP COMPUTER... (i'm so excited!)... has been through so much rough treatment. It was previously owned by the friendly neighborhood dumbfuck: Crazy Chris. Then it was purchased by my boss. I DO love my boss, but computer-savy he is NOT. This poor machine was crawling in Trojan horses, spyware, and clutter. There were 3 different "users" set up on the machine (Win XP) with identical stuff in each. There were 5 shortcuts to Internet explorers on the desktop... scattered in with about 30 other miscellaneous files, shortcuts, and installer programs. The virus checker hadn't been run since 2005, and its last update was probably when it was installed in 2003.

HOW CAN YOU LET YOUR COMPUTER CHOKE LIKE THAT?!

I've saved important data, weeded out the extra crap, updated the security features, ran the security features, actually DELETED the viruses found in 'quarantine,' installed firefox, hunted down manual removal directions for the grayware infesting the machine, and generally freed up about 3 gigs of space. I'll be weeding through the 'my documents' and throwing out anything that belonged to Crazy Chris.

The machine's gonna need a new video card soon, and the now AUTOMATIC updates to the PC-cillin will expire in a handful of days, so that requires renewal.

but i'm starting to act like it's my baby. like i do with the store. it's NOT mine. I'm just the control freak that it's been LENT to. MUST REMEMBER!! NOT MINE!!

--->EDIT!<---
NO ONE"S CLEARED THE TEMP FILES ON THIS THING SINCE 2003!!!!!
*weeps* it nearly chokes the machine to open the folder... moving the whole folder to the recycling bin just took 2 minutes. this is a NICE laptop! an EXPENSIVE machine! WHHHHY?!

it's been a while since i've posted in my journal proper. Mostly b/c i've been posting (almost) daily over at [livejournal.com profile] honest_eats. I know that community has been a personal success for me and my eating habits, and i invite anybody who hasn't joined it to join us!

BUT, other than keeping track of my new years' resolution over on that community-- i really haven't been around lj too much. Which is a shame. I should be. Stuff is happening, and writing things down is always cathartic.

angry man came back.

he apologized.

he re-set up his box.

he bought all the issues he'd missed.

he apologized again.

he said there WASN'T anywhere else he'd rather go. That he left before he REALLY lost it, b/c i didn't deserve all that. It wasn't my fault.

he was happy when i got his home number, his cell number, and his email address.

All smiles when he left.

I GOT MY SCHOLARSHIP!

huzzah! My books and my tuition are all paid for! Dance with me!

I also have had bronchitis for the past 3 weeks. I'm over it now, but i am gonna have to drop at least 2 classes (yoga: one credit. stats: teacher who taught nothing.) ...maybe the accounting too, but that depends on how much more work i've got ahead of me for the remaining two (economics and computer science).

Berlioz got a puncture wound on his fat widdle head from sneaking out like a punk and getting into fights with things larger (not too many of them) and meaner (but many of these) than he is. Now he's got an abcess. It burst last night. (YUM!) I spent the evening and a good part of this morning "milking" the cat's head. Like a bloody, ruptured mayonaise packet. mmmmm. mayonaise. He goes into the vet on monday to have the whole fool thing flushed out properly.

I owe kevin, blue and sc some doodles from that art meme. There's stuff to do all over the place for the studio. I've got my work cut out for me with homework. Boss is due back into town at any moment for the store. I've gotta get Visa's distemper booster AND schedule her for spaying. My room's a mess (need to do some laundry, vacuum, clean out those litter boxes, change my bedding, balance my check book, and file all my paper work from my desk). Kevin and I are planning a roadtrip to Vermont in the next two weeks or so. I have so many things to ebay for $$$, that it's not even funny.

And you know what i've gone and done?

Joined NaNo.

National Novel Writing Month. A support community for writing 50,000 words on a story by Nov 30 at midnight.

Is it b/c i have free time on my hands?

No. Quite the opposite in fact. But quite frankly, if i'm going to wait for a november when i'm "Not Busy?" I may as well admit i'm never gonna participate. There's no fees involved. There's no stigma attached to not finishing. And from what i've heard from past participants, it takes a few years of effort to actually hit the 50,000 word goal.

So yes. This is me adding one more thing that i want to do to my plate. My eyes may be too big for my stomach, but dangit, if i wait on EVERYTHING i wanna do, i'll never do anything.

I'm a FooL!
Here goes nothing!

But yes, i promise to use lj-cuts, and post my progress here. It will be rough. It will need mad work. You guys will probably see it before my editor does. And when she sees it, it'll get reworked and either put up for review to be reworked again, or hidden away carefully for the final posting. I swore i would not post the thing until it was done, but you know what? I'm finding I need a little more support. So, yes, in time, this FAN FICTION (oh god, yes. that's what it is.) will go up on ff.net and on places where i WANT people to read it as a finished work. Here? It's my babblings that may or may not end up in the fiction.

If you're not into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Fan Fiction, please skip all posts using this icon: NaNo. They'll also be tagged "NaNo" if you're looking to just read what i've got written this november.
